Dear Lactnetters,
I recently got a call at our hospital-based lactation center from a mom
who had recently adopted and was interested in breastfeeding. We discussed
her options and I gave her some websites and invited her to come in for a
consultation. I also took the liberty of giving her Judy Gelman's e-mail
address. I met Judy years ago at a LLL Leader Development Seminar and knew
of her expertise in this area, as well as her postings on Lactnet.
The mom called and scheduled an appointment after going to the LLL
websites and getting a gracious reply from Judy.
The very morning of the appointment I read a post here about an older
baby that went to the breast after finger-feeding with the SNS. This baby
is nearly 6 weeks old and has only had bottles. "Sure 'nuff", as we say here
in the South, he latched right on after a brief fingerfeed and transferred 4
oz!!
This is one of the many reasons I am addicted to Lactnet. (Also, great
posts like K. Jean Cotterman's recent "sore" subject.) Thanks, Judy
