HI Gail,
Nice to have you on board at Lactnet!
My first son never had a name for nursng, probably because he never spoke
much until 18 mo and we weaned at 14mo. :( My 2nd son, however came up
with "Daki" (dah-kee). We don't know how or why. I was calling it
"nibbles" (You want some nibbles?" don't ask why, can't figure that one out
either...), but he walked up to me one day at 12 mo, patted my breast and
said "Mama, daki??" climed up in my lap and nursed. It has been Daki ever
since. He is now 3.5 yr (weaned at 3 yrs). My youngest, 15.5 mo (I tandem
nursed for 8 mo) will climb up in my lap and pat my breast or pull on my
shirt and say "muh?" which is, I am assuming, the only way he can say
"milkies", which is what I call nursing for him. Different kid, different
word! It will be interesting to see if he completes the word to milkies as
his verbal skills get older, or if it stays, "Muh". :)
Hope this helps!
Jay

ps : I forgot to say that for my 3.5 yr old, my breasts are Daki's and so
are every other womans breasts! The milk is mama milk. He has even asked
my mother-in-law and my mother if they have daki's. They tell him "Yes, but
no mama milk!" :)
