If you did test weights before and after the nursing session which showed
appropriate intake, then I would not worry so much. Especially if baby is
gaining well which you said in your email (back up to birth weight by day 10
or darned close), and baby is having 4+ BMs every 24 hours. For a baby this
sleepy, I would want him to be taking in 3-4 ounces at every nursing session
and pooping up a storm. 3-4 ounces times 6 per day would be 18-24 ounces in
24 hours. And of course be at birth weight or higher on day 10.

For a sleepy baby who is not yet at birthweight by day 10, and having less
than 4 BMs each 24 hours, I would not trust anything other than a test
weight to make sure feedings are going well.

Some babies who take in large amounts at the breast really quickly seem
"sleepier" than those that take in more normal amounts more often. Perhaps
it is the huge amounts in their stomach that zones them out? Like
Thanksgiving dinner.
