i have definitely seen babies who reached 20 pounds by 3 months and grew
into normal, generally tall, large frame, but *not* overweight, healthy,
active toddlers or preschoolers!

This doctor is obviously very misinformed about breastfeeding! *water?!*
my goodness! if the baby was full, wouldn't one think the baby would wait
longer to eat? I agree with you - if something is wrong, it isn't anything
a diet would be the solution to.

i am not aware of specific conditions that would contribute to rapid weight
gain in an infant, but others might be. Sounds pretty normal to me though,
assuming that baby is meeting developmental milestones, which is rather
hard to tell at 3 months, since most 3 month olds aren't rolling, crawling,
or walking! :-)
