I know this a bit late but I've been out for the holidays. I have the
Willow Tree nativity set and Mary is holding baby Jesus. I do love that
but it has always bothered me to have Jesus present before his birth (if
you decorate early). So this year I bought one of the pregnant willow
tree statues and she portrays Mary until Christmas morning. It is nice
because they are all so simple and interchangeable (but very $$).

"I have a couple nativity scenes with Mary holding Jesus....they are by
far
my favourite! Jesus was a real baby and he needed to be close to his
mother;; the same as every other babe."
