I think it's very valuable to talk about specific products and their
utility for assisting breastfeeding on Lactnet. There's a difference
between saying "buy my product, I make money on it" and "this is what I
think about this product I've used (or sell) in my lactation practice".
Advertising, in my mind, is trying to increase market share of a product
one makes money on from Lactnet subscribers. I don't feel that this is
happening on Lactnet recently. Just saying that one sells something in
one's practice isn't an offer to sell to Lactnetters.

I value being able to talk about the efficacy and characteristics of
specific products so I know whether or not to invest in them
for/recommend them to my clients. Likewise, I want to know when other
Lactnetters are having poor results with a product, so I can avoid
wasting my clients' resources. Of course I'm going to scrutinize
products for myself as well, because no one experience is applicable to
every mother.
