I don't understand why we are blaming breastfeeding. This child is only 2 and from what I gather ONLY nursing 5-6 times a day. I don;t think any of my babies nursed less often than that at tist age and sometimes nursed that often during the night. IMO, the untreated tongue-tie and the oversupply (most likely caused by the tongue-tie) is the problem. If we are seeing the same method of using the tongue with water, why wouldn't clipping the tongue be the priority (sadly not so easy at it would have been much earlioer, but still appears we are seeing a cascade of problems with it). I have also repeatedly raised my concern on Lactnet (with no response) about the risk of hyperinsulinemia related to oversuipply. I think it is a real concern in this case. I wonder if this child is also unable to properly chew food as well.
