I am a little concerned about the gallop to one breast/feed. I know
that Denise Fisher was probably not suggesting this, but many in
Toronto, less knowledgeable about breastfeeding are. And I think this
is just as wrong as telling mothers they *must* feed both breasts at
each feeding. Basically, "finish the first side, and if the baby wants
more, offer the other". One breast/feeding does not always work, the
baby remains hungry. Sometimes it works at one feeding, but not the
other. We have had babies failing to thrive who just took off when the
mother was advised to offer the second breast. (This is a
simplification--we always fix the latch, use compression etc to "finish"
the first side).
