Hello everyone!

We are trying to plan our first ever celebration of breastfeeding week.
Here, it is being celebrate in October. We have started to draft ideas but
would like to try to come up with really cool and interactive ideas. So
far, here is what we have:

1. A booth to give handouts and to give info about breastfeeding and the
risks of formula feeding. We also would like to gather all info on
breastfeeding support in our community to give out to interested parties.

2. Have a little ticket sale to raise money for next year's celebrations by
having a 50/50 draw or draw of a couple of prizes related to families (pass
at amusement park, hotel stay for a family, diner at a local restaurant,
gift certificate, etc)

3. Have a breastfeeding walk at one of our local parks where we could
invite anyone interested in supporting or promoting breastfeeding to join
us. We could also offer refreshments and have our promoting booth there.
We taught we could also call radio stations to have them there to help us
promote the event.

4. Have the local group who had presented in their area a play on
breastfeeding come to our location and have them do it again at the end of
the week to close the festivities with a bag!!! It was a really cool play
and very funny as well as informative and so close to the truth for a lot of
mothers and families.

5. Have a lunch break presentation from one of our nurses on the floor who
did a wonderful project on skin-to-skin care for all staff of the hospital.

6. Send daily messages on breastfeeding through out the week for our
hospital staff.

7. Have an article in our local paper on breastfeeding for the promotion of
breastfeeding week.

We would like to have a week full of activities, at least one a day. We
would also like things that usually get people involved and that gets
attention. We also don't have a budget for this year so they have to be
things that would be of little cost of any at all. Do any of you have any
suggestions? Things you might have done in the past that made it big?????
Things that really caught the publics' eye????

Thank you so much once again!!!!!
