Need your suggestions.  Permission given to pass along from mother
Hi!
Mother seen by me at three weeks post partum. Baby birth weight 8-7,
discharge weight 7-14, at 3 weeks 8-2 1/2. Mom had sore nipples.  Baby
alert, active, strong cry, skin slight peeling.Adequate voids and stools.
Latch was shallow. Corrected latch and position of mom (leaning - over
baby). No pacifier. Breastfeeding every 2 hours. Baby's lips flanged.
Suggested increase fat in diet, fenugreek 3 caps three times a day.Weight
three days later 8-4. Urine lighter in color.  Diaper rash and white
patches on cheeks. Taking the fenugreek and mother's milk 3 cups a day.
More frequent audible swallow throughout feeding.  Less pulling on breast.
Nipples less sore.
At 4 1/2 weeks, weight up 1 oz at my office, no weight gain from previous
week 2 days later at peds office.
To start SNS with formula (22 calories). Baby given 3 oz x 2 following
breastfeeding next day.  Weight check on Monday. Any suggestions that I
missed from you fellow lactnetters.
