Is there any specific documentation (or literature) that would support the
practice of leaving baby's hands uncovered and positioned next to the face?

Personally I always wrap baby with his hands around the face and when
questioned, I tell the parents that the hands were the baby's friend inside and
that they are needed juts as much now as before birth.

I would like to give any supporting evidence to all my colleagues so that we
could change our practice as completely as possible.

We all know old haboits die hard and it is difficult to change practices
completely. But as newer nurses come in at least it is a start.
