i do think it's important to embrace the idea that babies cry when other cues have been ignored or unrecognized.... cues that are there to communicate to parent their needs.
what's the old saying that a crying baby are the sound of the western world?

i've been thinking about this a lot lately.... i think western babies are hard cryers because we fail to read their gentle cries etc... so if parents reach the point of a baby who cries uncontrollably i do have to wonder what cues were being missed long before it got to this stage?

our babies ourselves give lots of stories of different approaches to parenting around the world...
