Margaret,

In a message dated 98-03-20 08:42:31 EST, you write:

participation versus the "let me spoon feed you the information" method? >>

In my classes we have fun showing positioning and latch on by bringing in
various stuffed animals and having moms practice the cradle hold. We do this
BEFORE they see the video. I'll samy somehting like, "if you were to have
just had your baby, show me how you think the best way to hold him would be".
Then I point out what I'm seeing, i.e. moms not holding the baby chest to
chest, baby lying on his back, etc. THEN I have the partner show me the
football hold. IT can be sooooo funny.

Also, in the past, I've held contests where I give each partner an unopened
handpump and tell them that the first one to put it togther wins a prize
(like cotton breastpads or something). This has always been a blast. Most
guys end up trying the pump on themselves! Just hilarious.

Hope this helps!
