Cathy writes: ' Cardiologists, for
example, or oncologists, adjust their practice to new information as it
becomes available. '

You know, I don't think that's always true. Some do, some don't. Some stick
with the tried-and-tested, long after it has been superseded or become
'unfashionable'. Some adjust their practice as often as they change their
shoes. Some stick to their own obsessions, and fly in the face of good
evidence.

They vary.

Paediatricians are no different.

Problem is, that normal, everyday infant feeding has become a part of their
specialism - inappropriately. In the UK this is less marked, as the GP
is the medic most likely to become involved with giving advice on feeding-
but again, often inappropriately. It gets all mixed in with their ideas -
that is, their personal opinions - of childcare and discipline, too.

It is still inexcusable for doctors to tell mothers things which are
untrue, and actively harmful to health. We're always told over here that US
is the medico-legal capital of the world! Why aren't more mothers
suing!!!???
