Hi Holly

Thank you for letting us know what volumes are fed for each feed to
neonates in your Baby Friendly Hospital.

Could you let us know if these volumes are worked out based on the baby's
age, or the baby's weight, eg on Day 1: 5-7ml, would that equate to
30ml/kg/day (if the baby had 8 feeds in 24 hours and so on up the scale
.....?)

And do you have a firm ref for those figures?

Thank you

Pamela Morrison IBCLC

-----------------------------

I would think if there were extenuating circumstances that volumes would
not be any different than for fill-term infants regardless of location.

We are a Baby Friendly Hospital and our guidelines state; Day 1: 5-7 ml,
Day 2: 15 ml, Day 3: 30 ml, Day 4: 45 ml. (Per feeding)

Warmly,

Holly Mcspadden, IBCLC
