Has anyone worked with a mother who in the early days after her baby's birth
has experienced swelling of axillary lymphs nodes on one side? There is one
pea-sized lump, one a bit larger, and a third that is a few cm wide. She also
has an accompanying pain in the back over the lattisimus dorsi muscle. It
started on Day 6 and is bit better on Day 8, but still evident. It is not linked
with let-down.

We can find no evidence of nipple trauma. The baby did have a clench response
and did clamp down painfully a few times on the breast . The breast itself
has no pain. I'm wondering if she might have some axillary mammary gland tissue
that is not connected to the ducts and if milk has leaked out between the
cells and the lymph system might be picking it up. No real engorgement to speak
of when her milk came in.

I'm also wondering if any of you that have trained in lymphatic drainage have
seen anyting like this!

I did a Lactnet search and didn't find much on this.
