It's not the best for showing latch, but not too long ago there was
a doll called "Baby Heartbeat" that was great for showing how to
hold a baby close (rather than lying on it's back and turning its
head to reach moms-what I call the "hands off" approach-mom's hands
off, not necessarily the LC.  When the doll is brought in close so
there is some chest contact, you feel a heartbeat (somewhat
bradycardic for those looking for a more technically accurate
model).  If baby is just laid on its back on mom's lap, no
heartbeat.  When I would pass it around at a class, I would tell
them that if they hold the baby like I was describing, they would
get a positive feedback from the doll.  After a few puzzled looks, I
would reassure them that the doll didn't suck!  It was always great
to see the faces when they would feel the baby's heartbeat.
