Dear Friends,

In my corner of the world, many HCP's seem to have been trying hard to get the story obout fore- and hindmilk and now think moms need to encourage theri babies to keep on drinking from one breast only and for at least 20 minutes, and to reconnect to this same breast if baby comes off before that time, to come to this precious hindmilk. Others seem to have learnt that hindmilk starts flowing after exact 7 minutes, so feeding for 10 minutes a side should do the trick.
And that's what's it's all about: tricks. Some people who do not have a good understanding of ''milk mechanics'' don't understand the diversity in milk making and milktransfer and they need tricks or rules to hang on to.

  Warmly greeting,

  Gonneke,
IBCLC, LLLL, MOM, grandma2B in southern Netherlands
