Tucked in a small corner of USA TODAY (Thurs. May 15) :

ENRICHING BABY FORMULA

Baby formulas should be fortified with antioxidants - nutrients believed to
help prevent cancer, heart disease and other health problems - to more
closely mimic natural breast milk, suggests a report in today's ANALYTICAL
CHEMISTRY, a journal of the American Chemical Society.
Frederick Khachik of Catholic University, Washington, D.C., analyzed breast
milk and found 34 carotenoids, a subset of antioxidants that originate in
fruits and vegetables. "The carotenoids of human milk are important for
developing and maintaining good health of infants," he writes. Currently,
most infant formula is fortified with vitamins, nutrients and, in some cases,
beta-carotene, he says.

My question is: Why doesn't this have a headline like: New Finding for the
Superiority of Breastmilk rather than mentioning formula at all? Just a
hypothetical question - we all could take a good stab at the answers! Guess
we know now what will be the new and improved ingredient will be added to the
"concoctions" next year to make it "even closer" to breast milk!
