To follow on from the several posts on the baby who was not thriving:
Yes, one of the really difficult aspects of helping Mums is recognising when
they are not mentioning something important - either deliberately holding it
back or just not thinking to mention it. Whether it is a mother following a
rigid protocol or a mother with depression, sometimes it is only when all
the other information doesn't add up that we have this "aha" moment.
I'm not going to comment further, as there were several excellent
suggestions on protecting the baby.
(I've been off Lactnet for some time and I'm having a quick visit this
weekend.)
