I have seen a woman who is about 4 weeks postpartum who thought she had
mastitis becasue one breast appeared red. No other signs or symptoms. Her
doctor didn't prescribe antibiotics as she wasnt't convinced it was mastitis
(good thinking!).

The right breast is larger and fuller than the left, and on casual
inspection looks inflamed. But looking closer, it is just fine capillaries
visible over the whole breast. Apparently it has looked the same (or worse)
for about 3 weeks.

I reasssured her that it was not mastitis of any kind. And said that it may
settle down as her supply settles down.

Any comments?

PS. Snipped a tongue tie on a large 4 month old baby yesterday, no problems
(previously had only done so on infants younger than 3 months as I had been
taught: but hearing how adults had been snipped in the same way on Lactnet
enabled me to feel confident enough to do it).
