Dear Bonnie and all,
You could also look at your hosp mission and vision statement and use
that to show how lactation services fit in and are needed. Sometimes
there are quality improvement processes in place in which a problem is
brought up to the committee (like medication errors keep being made with
a certain drug) and reasons why this happens and solutions are explored.
Usually anyone can bring a problem to the committee. Your problem could
be 90% moms initiate but by hosp d/c only xxx% are still bf. Or routine
supplementing, whatever. Then this is explored and solutions offered. I
think there is stuff in archives about this hosp process.
Also could any grant money be found to offer lactation services/?
