I just feel like bragging about a recent incident at our hospital. We have
taken great strides towards improving customer satisfaction and this
particular incident is indeed a major move.
A mother of a 6 week old Downs baby had discovered she had cervical
cancer during the early diagnosis of pregnancy. The plan was to do a total
hyst after 6weeks. This baby is a fantastic nurser and thriving but, does
not do well with bottle feeding. Besides the emotional issues they were
encountering...their concern with the baby's welfare (feeding issues and
importance of receiving mothers milk) ...the couple was distraught with how
things were going to fare during this time. Great efforts have been made so
that Mom has a private room and baby (along with Dad) are present while in
the hospital. At first, this issue of having baby in the hospital brought
great concern but, plans were made so that their needs were met. Today is
her 2nd post-op day and although Mom is having a difficult recovery they are
emotionlly at ease which in the long run will help with overall recovery.
