I wonder if the blood vessels might not be varicose
veins?  They could be the cause of burning pain with
nursing and the pain could be worse dependent on
positioning especially if they continue down to the
areola.  With a familial type of varicosities, the
abnormal vessels can occur anywhere in the body.
