While I'm on my post-hurricane rant about the importance of us tackling
this issue from the front end, I have a question: Where is the AAP on
this? Isn't it time they issue some huge, loud and flashy press release
urging women in the storm-affected areas to breastfeed? They're a
sufficiently important organization; they might actually be heard - dare
I say (yes, dare, Regina, dare!) - be **listened** to by the media and
FEMA and such. Just a thought.

Of course as I've said before, many of these women want "normal" right
now, and as of the day before the hurricane hit, "normal" = formula to a
great many of them. Which means that is still their definition of
normal, and one of the things they long to be able to do easily once
again. Let's not forget, months after this crisis has passed, to
include "being able to feed your baby even after a ***insert the natural
catastrophe of your choice**" in our list of advantages whenever we
teach classes or promote breastfeeding!
