Thanks to all of you who responded to my post about the mom who weaned her
baby at 5 weeks and is still leaking at 6 months postpartum. Several of you
mentioned cabbage leaves--I've suggested this to new moms with severe
engorgement, but I never even thought of it for this woman. Guess I was
looking for some really exotic diagnosis--after all, wouldn't it be fun to
surprise the infertility specialist with something he hasn't thought of? :-)
(Of course, I'll bet he hasn't thought of cabbage, so I'll surprise him with
that!) A couple of you suggested that the mom just put the baby back to
breast--of course, that also occurred to me. (It isn't nice to fool Mother
Nature, etc.) But since I don't know the woman at all, I don't have a feel
for how she'd react. If she's paying the doc big bucks to "cure" her, I
figure that's probably not an option. I'll pass the cabbage info on to my
firend and keep you posted on the results.
