Is it possible that the amount of tooth decay is directly linked to the genetic structure of the teeth? How
come some babies can suck all night and never get a cavity, breast milk or ABM, bottle or breast, and
some babies get lots of decay with the same or maybe even less exposure? We need to look at the teeth.
Some people have straight hair, some curly, some have great eye sight, some have poor eye sight, some
have strong nails, some have brittle nails. It is not about breastfeeding. Who is to say your kid wouldn't
have had vulnerable teeth even if you had brushed their gums and teeth after every BFing and never had
them linger at the breast? IMHO it is about the teeth. How can they test this? Take a tooth from a mouth
drop it in EBM see what happens? take a tooth from the SAME mouth, drop it in ABM see what happens?
My bet is that they will both show signs of decay, both not how signs of decay or the EBM tooth will be
LESS vulnerable. Parents have enough guilt, we can't go around blaming them for doing the right thing
and the wrong thing at the same time.
Am I way off base???
