Requiring coursework in medical documentation, universal safety precautions
and occupational safety seems unnecessary, even for LCs working in a US
hospital. Every year we are mandated to take the hospital-administered
version of those as well as "compliance" (which in this case means "don't
steal stuff or give away patient information"---as opposed to "patient
compliance"). Doesn't matter if you had them elsewhere, you have to do your
hospital's version so that they can document that they've provided their
employees with that info. I always assumed that this had to do with federal
(government) regulations mixed with a dose of avoiding litigations/lawsuits.
