I have a case with a mom of three, nursing her third baby. Baby is almost 5 months. Great nurser but has this concern and I thought I would bring it to the wise minds of Lactnet.

Baby will be nursing and sleeping and then start to have what mom describes as tremors. Not really a seizure, she says they are not violent like she would term a seizure, they are tremors, like shaking that an old person can have... you know how sometimes older people have hands that shake... this is how she describes it. Baby will wake up but takes a minute or so to rouse, then of course the baby is mad because she has been woken out of a nice slumber. These tremors have happened 4 or 5 times, all within the last two weeks. Only happen when the baby is sleeping and being nursed. And I should note that the cradle position is how the baby is being held. Mom has not observed the tremors in any other sleeping situations with the baby, only while be held and nursing. And breathing seems to be just fine while the tremors occur.

I am baffled... could the baby be in such a deep sleep that this is just a strange tick? The tremors last up to 15-20 seconds before mom can get baby out of them. I told her that it may warrant a trip to her ped. but I would ask here first. It would seem to be bfing related since it only happens while she is nursing... what do you all think? This baby is completely healthy in ALL other ways. It was a drug free birth, baby is free of all sickness and has proper weight gain, and is on target or above for all milestones. Any ideas??
