Good point, Pamela, the title and the aim and scope of the Code do not match. Perhaps it had better been named 'The International Code for the marketing of breastfeeding substitutes''. This will automatically include every aspect of breastfeeding, of the proces and of the product.

Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC in PP, LC lecturer in southern Netherlands

Thank you kindly to everyone who jumped into the fray, to patiently clarify that there's not a problem with using, or even with selling, bottles and teats - just with _marketing_ them.

Nevertheless, the question still nags.... we're talking about the International Code of Marketing of _Breastmilk Substitutes_..... So, in acordance with the spirit and aim of the Code, can anyone explain why _bottles and teats_ were originally included within its scope?
