I do agree with Leslie when she responds to Jack Newman:
" True, there are no BFI institutions yet in Canada, which is very
disappointing. But things are starting to move. It's taking a long time
and has no doubt been full of frustrations but I think there's going to
be increasing momentum over the next year or two. Getting the Canadian
government to do more on the WHO Code may be another matter, but small
steps ..."
I was in Vancouver too and it was very motivating to see all the
activities in order to get some Baby Friendly Initiatives going on. Two
hospitals, one in Vancouver and one in Quebec are awaiting to be
evaluated...
But you have to remember that unlike most of the countries who have BFH,
we don't have too much help with the huge amounts of money spent in
Canada just in advertising the artificial feeding methods... We do what
we can, each province trying to get together to advance... In Vancouver,
the Quebec group met after the conference in order to partner into
moving...I guess some representatives from other provinces did the same.
I would say...slowly but surely... and keeping positive. Louise
