I am looking for information for a mom who has had a CA 125 Tumor Marker
test that came back high. The ultrasounds all came back negative for ovarian
cancer, as has other tests. Only this one is still showing more follow up is
needed. Her question is will breastfeeding affect the results. She read that
menstruation does, so wonders if lactation does also. The links below are
all we could find on the topic, but I am hoping that maybe someone on the list
has experience with this issue and knows a bit more about how lactation may
affect the outcome of the test. They want to test her monthly, and her theory
is if breastfeeding is going to affect the results, they will always come
back high and she sees no reason for weaning when everything else is coming
back normal just to see if the test results of this one test will change if she
is not breastfeeding.
