Please explain something to me. A well known manufacturer of formula has a
"Breastfeeding Success Kit" in the form of a diaper bag for new breastfeeding
mothers, with a bottle of formula in it too. Now that disturbs me enough,
BUT there is a booklet written by Kathleen Huggins on breastfeeding in the
diaper bag too! Is she aware of that? Don't you think it represents a
conflict of interests for a hospital educators to pass out coupons for this
diaper bag, to be presented to the nursing staff upon delivery?
I have suggested to my boss that if we absolutely MUST have the bags, that
the parents bring the coupon to me in the Breastfeeding Center and I will
give them the bag WITHOUT the formula in it. What do you think? Thanks in
advance. Loni Denman, RN, IBCLC
