Thanks Nina for the reminder of the "fair use" exception (common in just
about every country) for use of copyrighted materials.

"Fair use" is considered on a teeter-totter, and different factors will tip
you to the side of use allowed without prior permission, or the side that
requires you to get permission first.

You making a copy of a journal article at the library to take home to
continue research: no problem. You copying your own article to give to one
colleague who is working on the research with you; I'd consider that
"fair." You now copying that article to share with the ten folks in your
study group: that's a problem. Some sources are very protective of their
right to decide who gets bulk copies, and how much (if anything) must be
paid for the privilege.

The good news (last of egg now wiped off) is that the Inaugural Issue of
Clinical Lacation is open-access, free for any and all to use, download and
share. Yippee! The International Breastfeeding Journal (on-line only) is
published under the same format--every issue.
