I am the mother of a 7 year old who was, alas,
weaned from the breast all to soon at six months of age (due to an
uninformed mama, I am sad to say).  However, breastfeeding is now a part of
his existence as he accompanies me on after hour home visits, at times.

                        He has always known that breasts are for feeding
babies and now that dh and I are discussing having a second child, my son
has been asking a lot of questions about breastfeeding.  The most common one
is "Will I be able to taste the baby-milk too?"  My response to him was
"Sure Sweetie".  Then he replied "Well, I'll think about it."  I think his
concern is more with sharing Mom with a new baby.

                        I agree with Katherine that it is not the age of the
child that matters but the relationship between mother and child.
