Maurene, I heartily agree with you on all points.  Once the baby leaves the
bedside there is always delayed feeds.  Those of us who would like one room
care need to emphasize the positive points of bedside babies.
Another problem are restrictive state and local public health department
restrictions which leave the nurse to either ignore regulations on visitors
and children or enforce them for less than family centered care.
We have to encourage our staff and clients to feed back not only to
doctors,staff and hospitals when the choose to deliver there, but also to
state and local regulatory agencies that haven't moved into the 20th century.
