Greetings all,
Thanks to all of you who responded about my request for a mom whose 7
month old baby had many problems and epilepsy who wanted to increase her
supply with Reglan. Sadly, the baby died last week. One of the hardest
things for this mom has been to go through drying up her milk supply. I now
have another request that I am hoping you can help with. I know someone on
the list compiled information about this next question, but I have searched
the archives and cannot find the information I need.
I am a IBCLC (non RN) in private practice and working at the local
hospital with 3 other LCs. This last week a fringe member of our lactation
group who is an RN is making huge waves about us not being RN's. We see all
the patients postpartum and in our outpatient clinic. She states that we are
unqualified to do this without an RN overseeing us. Of course we know we
are ok but she is powerful. What the coordinator of the department has asked
me to find out how many hospitals hire non-RN L.C.s. Could you please email
me with the name and location of your hospital, how many LCs you have and
how many are non-RN. Also if you have non-RN L.Cs running a clinic,
please email me about this too. Thank you so much. Judith Markham IBCLC
