I am a long time "lurker" of LACTNET and must say I have learned volumes
from everyone of you out there who regularly posts. A huge thanks to all
who take the time to participate in this forum. With that said, I will
introduce myself. I am a public health educator operating as a full-time
breastfeeding program coordinator in WIC. In our state we have no
official designations or positions in breastfeeding..thus the public
health ed. title. I became an IBCLC in 2001, recertified this year by
cerps. There was no recognition for this in my work setting but I feel
that it helps with credibility sometimes just having it on my business
cards. I try to constantly build on my knowledge base and educate others
whenever and wherever I can.

Elaine's comments about the beautiful poster of the little girl nursing
her doll drew me out of my "lurkdom". I have to comment because the exact
same scenario happened a couple of years ago in one of our public health
clinics. Same poster, same comments, everything. It was a battle we did
not win. The poster was on the floor every morning when the staff came in
until it ultimately was removed. We had to compromise with the
nice "Loving Support" banner. There was something about that poster that
really bothered one person in particular and she was extremely verbal
about it. It's a very sad world we live in sometimes.
