I have been following this thread with interest since my son (now 5) had a
small bout with blood in the stool around the ages of 7-8 months. He was not
taking solids at that point, was exclusively BF, born at home, not medical
interventions or exterior trauma to the stomach, etc, etc. He was a healthy
thriving baby and I believe he naturally delayed taking solids for 12+
months due to his food sensitivities.

The blood in the stool episode was one of the few times my son has seen a
conventional doctor. Stool test came back normal and I did as the doctor
suggested and ignored the issue mostly. Looking back now I really wish I had
pursued some other modalities of healing for his gut. We did some home based
things (probiotics, etc) and the blood in the stool did go away soon after.

However now at age 5 I am seeing some more signs of food sensitivities
emerge. I often wonder if I should have done more when he was a baby. So I
would definitely not recommend moms ignore blood in the stool.
I also seem many moms go on ultra restrictive diets for almost no reason at
all so I don't advocate that approach either. Moms should neither ignore
blood in the stool or freak out over it but consider it a sign that
something is going on.
