I'm getting a little frustrated by this discussion. There is an
assumption that the tenet is asking for a specific attitude to be taken.

Tenet 25:
"Understand, recognize, respect, and acknowledge intellectual property
rights, including but not limited to copyrights (which apply to written
material, photographs, slides, illustrations, etc.), trademarks, service
marks, and patents. (Implementation date: December 1, 2004)" (IBLCE Code
of Ethics, as per www.iblce.org.

In this case "respect" has NOTHING to do with how we feel about any of
the material mentioned. It has ONLY to do with copyright aka
"intellectual property rights".

We do not have the right to reproduce or claim ownership to any of these
items. Period.

FWIW that applies also to any items that are not copyrighted, patented,
service marks, but are the creation of an individual or corporation.

That's it.

Yes, patenting INDIVIDUAL components of human milk is ridiculous.
Virtually every woman in the world produces those components in the
context of whole breastmilk; that would be a different patent and it
cannot be patented.

OTOH, the issue of copyright infringement and intellectual property
rights is a huge one. And that is the content of article 25. It asks
us to adhere to rights UNDER LAW of intellectual properties. It does
not ask us to agree with, honour, hold in high regard or any other
positive acknowledgement of those trademarks, service marks, or patents.
