I can't see any reason why the mother needs to stop breastfeeding. I have
had many mothers continue to go on and breastfeed after an abscess. It is
a messy business. But it does heal. The thing is, with an abundant milk
supply like this there is no quick or neat way out of it. The Milk won't
dry up quickly anyway, even if the mothers is trying to suppress.
Reassure the mother that it will heal and that breastfeeding protects
agains breast cancer (why didn't her doctor tell her that?)

Warm Regards
