Lori and all,
I don't know much about Cranio Sacral Therapy but I had a client a
couple years ago whose baby exhibited similar behaviour. She pumped and
fed her baby for months! We talked off and on, she would call to
request pep talks on the importance of breastmilk and the dangers of
formula. Baby did have a very loud heart murmur which the
pediatricians, she went to several, all said was benign and shouldn't
cause feeding problems. It took over an hour at first to get her to
bottle feed and she gained weight very slowly.

I have been meaning to post this case for awhile because it is
somewhat of a success story. I ran into the mom when the baby was about
15 mos old. She stated that at 8 mos she had come to the end of her
rope with pumping and decided that she had done quite enough! She
attempted to put the babe to breast one last time before totally giving
up and the babe nursed beautifully, at 15 mos nursing was still going
very well! The sad part is the the babe began showing significant
developmental delays before 1 year and was not even attempting to crawl
at 15 mos. The peds who had brushed off all of the feeding problems
began to pay closer attention and were sending her to developmental
specialists for diagnosis. I don't know how they are doing now.

When I am questioned about how late a babe can actually return to
breast I cautiously optimistic! I have great faith in what a determined
mom can do.
