There was a call for this in the Daily Telegraph recently -

http://www.telegraph.co.uk

Search for breastfeeding on June 1 1999

I have had some email correspondence with the author. Basically, her view
was there is support for women with pnd, women who have had sections and
other interest groups - but nothing for women who really wanted to bf, and
ended up bottle feeding.

She knows that lay counsellors (like me) take calls from women who feel sad
and bad about their experience (and I do talk about this with many women)
but she said (correctly, I am sure) that many women just don't want to talk
about it with someone who (they think) might be judging them.

She says she found a lot of help on the Internet, and many women who echoed
her experiences.

The 'bottle feeding without guilt' movement, and pro-bottle advocates, do
not fill their needs. Many women want to breastfeed with the next child,
and don't want to shout about bottle being as good as breast or accuse
people of 'forcing' them to breastfeed.

I feel there is scope for a newsgroup or bulletin board or emailing list
for mothers to find support from each other, and to access some good
information that would help them understand *why* they didn't manage to bf
, though not by making them feel bad that they didn't 'try' hard enough or
'fight' hard enough.

NCT is currently revamping its website to become more interactive, and I
think I will suggest we do something along these lines.
