I heard today on our local radio station that Madonna and now Janet
Jackson are both pregnant. I was daydreaming, thinking it would be neat
if both of these ladies were to breastfeed. The popmedia culture has
exploited their breasts for sexual pleasure for so long that it would be
neat if they got maternal on us and breastfed. But this would only work
it they were very positive about it and outspoken (Madonna is good at
that!) A really neat ad would be a picture of Madonna holding her baby,
the baby would have a milk moustache and Madonna would say,
"Breasts-they're not for just sexual pleasure anymore!" I do think it
is a shame that neither of these gals is married, (at least, I don't
think they are) whether we like it or not, these gals are role models
for generation X and I can't help but worry about the message they are
conveying in regards to the "family" I guess I'm just conservative and
believe that children should have married parents when possible. Please
don't bash me, I know that it isn't always possible. It's just that my
sisters are single mothers and it is hard sometimes for them.

Also-My OB supervisor wants to buy a breast pump for the employees to
use and she wants to know which is better-M. Classic with a 5 year
warranty or M. Lactina with a 1 year warranty? Do the M. L.'s burn out?
Personally, I like the M.L. but I wanted the advice of you Lactnetters
on this one.

Also, on a personal note, I'm nursing my 9 month old and it has finally
got hot in Wisconsin. I've never nursed during the summer before and we
both end up very hot and sticky. Do you have any ideas for staying
cool? My husband doesn't want to put the air conditioner in yet.

Writing from Ithaca WI, where it is finally sunny and hot and humid.
Where the mosquitos can draw a tube of blood faster than a lab tech!
