We have a wonderful mom in our Parent-Baby group that asked me to post this
question to you. She is nursing her very healthy and robust little boy,
almost 10 mo. old, and nursing very often because he has quite severe
allergies and isn't interested in a lot of solids so she is taking it very
slow. She complains of dizziness usually after she eats and sometimes
associated with nursing. She has had many blood tests and the doctors tell
her that her potassium and albumin/protein is high. Thyroid is normal but I
don't know if high or low normal, all diabetes tests are normal. Her sodium
is fine but they say she is dehydrated because she nurses so much. Her urine
is pale yellow and clear, she doesn't notice a dry mouth, etc. and drinks 7-8
glasses of water a day plus the juices, occ. coffee, etc that she may have.
I don't think she is dehydrated and they don't really know what to tell her
so they blamed it on nursing. After reading some of the recent posts, I am
wondering if she should take a calcium supplement or increase it in her diet.
She doesn't drink milk, I know, because of her son's intolerences but I
don't know about other calcium rich foods. What do you think?
She said she has talked to other moms online that are having the same
symptoms at 9-10 months when nursing more exclusively and are undergoing all
the same tests she is and finding nothing.
Thanks for your replies.
