Hello again to ALL;
And 10,000 thanks for all your responses to my query re: human milk
fortifiers. Your collective knowledge and experience are invaluable!
  Now i have a mother who delivered yesterday by emergency C/S, who is HIV+,
had made the decision to go off her meds 1-2 weeks ago(after reading the
recent article in Mothering and following it up with lots of independent
research), and several days ago had decided (against our advice and that of
all other HCPs involved) to breastfeed. Her delivery came a couple weeks
early (plus this is a 1st time situation for our practice) and we hadn't had
time to communicate her decisions to hospital staff, so you can imagine the
ruckus that ensued there.
  At this point, the mother has decided to bottle feed, considering all the
consequences. I have to go over and see her in an hour. One of our
midwives mentioned the possibility that she could pump and have her milk
heat-treated to kill the virus. One of her infectious disease specialists
said he didn't know of any info available on this. i know I've heard of it,
but I don't know where to locateit, and I need help, ASAP. Lois Arnold/
other milk-banking folks, where are you? Please email me privately, as well
as postinf to the list if you like.
And warm thanks to ALL from:
