I was taught in nursing school--more years ago than I
can assimilate this morning--that neonatal acne was
due in part to hormones and in part to the immaturity
of the infant's sebacious (sp?!) glands. The
newly-functioning ducts in the skin can't handle the
secretions, so they clog.

Okay, here's the breastfeeding link! Moms are
sometimes counseled to bathe an infant's inflamed eye
with a few drops of expressed breast milk. Wonder if
a few drops smoothed over a baby's broken-out little
face would help the acne heal faster?
