There has been a question floating around on the midwifery list, and some
pretty crazy answers are turning up. I am hoping that someone here will be
able to help us out.

If a woman has a pierced nipple, will the resulting scar tissue affect
attempts to breastfeed?

I think that this is a pretty important question! There are alot of women
who were told that breast implants would not harm any attempts to breastfeed,
and were very disappointed (even heartbroken) when they found out that this
wasn't true. There may be some young women out there who are believing
whatever some piercing "artiste" is telling them .

What do we know about this?

Looking forward to your responses,
Anne
