 You made me laugh with this one--I think most of us want to tell the
"breastfeeding under-educated" to shape up. Sometimes it is very challenging
to come up with ways to educate some of them. One pediatrician (she & her
partner regularly tell moms to supplement with AIM until the milk comes in)
recently told me that they see so many babies come back to their office
needing treatment for jaundice. This is why they need to supplement--they
don't get enough breast milk in the 1st couple of days. I did mention that if
babies were encouraged to breastfeed frequently,  without interference, that
they would get plenty of colostrum & mothers' milk would come in sooner. I
should have asked her why so many of their babies need treatment for jaundice
when the other peds don't seem to have such a big problem.
