Pam asked for feedback on a new product for sore nipples,

so I went to the site and feel it is just one more gadget that doesn't 
address the underlying cause and that breastfeeding doesn't require.  What is 
disturbing is that as far as I can see, there is no mention on the entire site about 
seeking help to determine the cause of the sore/damaged nipples.  This 
product also makes no sense to me because it has an opening for the nipple and often 
damage done by baby is on the nipple face.  And anyone who's had mom's use 
nipple shield's for legitimate reasons knows if baby is compressing or causing 
pain wearing a shield offers no protection from that pain.  
Regardless of the claims on the site as to safety, a damaged nipple is prone 
to infection and some foreign material over the nipple/areola just provides a 
breeding ground for infection.  It looks to me that the device could cause 
damage to the infant's mouth, as well.  And when perusing the site I went to 
links and there is yet another gadget a little foam pillow for breast support; 
what's wrong with mom's hand or a simple rolled up cloth (diaper, washcloth, 
finger tip towel) under the breast of large breasted women who then can use their 
hands to support or compress if need be.  Yet another thing that complicates a 
natural process and appeals to consummerism.
